Currently my preperation is so far that I thought about my topic exacting and I had a butcher’s at the internet. Furthermore I was in the library and looked for books which are possibly interesting and needful for my Facharbeit.

Kwame Nkrumah:

Nkrumah was one of the most influential Africanist of the 20th century. He lived from 1909 to 1972 and was the leader of Ghana and its prodecessor state, the Gold Coast, from 1952 to 1966.

 In March 1957 Nkrumah declares Ghana independence with his claim ”independence now!”. Ghana was the first African country, which got the independence and today Nkrumah is known as the founder of Pan-Africanism.

I’m a cool rocking Daddy in the U.S.A.The rock song “Born in the USA” by Bruce Springsteen was released in October 1984 and you can also find it on the album of the same name.

The lyric deals with the effects and consequences of the Vietnam War on the Americans and was misinterpreted by President Ronald Regan because he thought the song was something like a patriotic declaration of love.

Springsteen`s song is a donation to his buddies who had experienced the Vietnam War, some of his buddies died and the song also protests the hardness Vietnam veterans faced by their return from the war.

For example the fate of the protagonist´s brother (sometimes replaced with buddy) is described in this way:

“I had a brother at Khe Sanh

Fighting off them Viet Cong
They’re still there, he’s all gone

He had a woman he loved in Saigon
I got a picture of him in her arms now”

Especially the antipode “they´re still here, he´s all gone” create a sad mood.

As I see it the song is interesting because the hardship of the Vietnam veterans is handled in it……

So I can say that I was a little bit nervous and forgot to say some further things, but all in all I think it was not bad. Franziska and I had the same number of pages or rather topics, even so Franziska`s “airtime” was a wee bit longer than my, but that is not very tragic (as I see it).

It is difficult to appraise my own presentation, maybe it would be more advantageous to evaluate a presentation by some others in writing.

First of all we both read the article, mark important facts and divided it into different parts.

Then we thought about the various topics and headlines, the structur and the layout we should choose for our powerpoint presentation. After this, the parting of these topics was arranged so that we both could start working.

For my part, I wrote down the absorbing details for each headline and added to some more information if it was necessary. Most time I worked on the computer, with a word document =), LEO the german-english dictionary and of course the internet.

The further step was that the headwords were written down in our powerpoint presentation. Furthermore we included some pictures to exemplify out topics.

Finally we coalesced our pieces of presentations and discussed the controversial subjects.

That was the way Franziska and I worked for our presentation.
